2024 Titleist Golf Balls - True Soft - TruFeel - AVX - Velocity
Posted by GolfBox on 25th Jan 2024
Titleist’s Tour Soft, TruFeel, AVX and Velocity golf balls might be considered a little off-Broadway in a range dominated by the all-conquering Pro V1, but a refresh of all three models will inch them closer to the spotlight.
Longer, softer and offering more spin around the greens, the new Titleist range of golf balls offer a performance profile that will help lower scores in 2024.

2024 TOUR SOFT GOLF BALLS
While it’s not the softest ball in the Titleist line-up, the Tour Soft is well-regarded for offering balanced performance. The Tour Soft has long been viewed as Titleist’s all-rounder ball: not quite a tour ball but its budget-conscious price point and softer feel made it a popular choice in the distance-centric segment of the Titleist ball range.
The new Tour Soft, the fourth generation of Titleist’s premium ionomer ball, is now longer off the tee and offers more spin into the greens. The ball features a larger core, which is responsible for producing the speed and distance gains, yet it retains an exquisitely soft feel at impact.
While the two-piece Tour Soft doesn’t offer the same level of spin as Titleist’s more premium ball range, a thinner and reformulated Fusablend cover gives it a dependable level of grip that will enhance short game control around the greens. The Tour Soft’s new cover also features a revised dimple pattern that generates more carry distance off the tee via lower spin rates – a trait replicated in the long irons.
2024 TRUFEEL GOLF BALLS
The new fourth generation TruFeel is the ball for players who prioritise feel above all else.
The 2024 TruFeel features a reengineered TruTouch core that, by and large, delivers the softest feel in the Titleist line-up because of its low compression. The TruFeel’s new 3.0 ionomer cover is also softer and has been fitted with a new dimple design that offers a low, penetrating ball flight.
However, it’s around the greens where the new TruFeel hits its straps. The cover generates extra spin on those tricky half shots that require the most control, finesse and feel. The two-piece 2024 TruFeel ball should suit players with slower swing speeds.
2024 AVX GOLF BALLS
The fourth generation of Titleist’s AVX golf ball is longer and offers an extra dose of short game spin and control. The three-layer AVX is an alternative to Titleist’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls but offers a distinctive performance profile: a softer feel, less spin and a lower launch. Indeed, the AVX is the lowest-spinning, lowest-launching ball in the Titleist line-up. And that can be attributed to its new high-gradient core, a thin and highly-flexible mantle layer and a softer urethane cover.
The new core is softer in the centre but graduates to a firmer compression as it progresses to the exterior, producing a soft feel yet creating extra distance tee-to-green. Meanwhile, the thin mantle layer wrapped around the core is responsible for cutting spin on long shots, an attribute that ties in nicely with the new AVX’s more piercing ball flight that comes courtesy of a new dimple pattern. Around the greens is where the AVX’s reformulated cast urethane cover really shows off. It creates more short game spin and control, which is the perfect accompaniment for the AVX’s mid-soft feel.
While the new AVX offers a niche low-spin, low-launch, soft feel performance profile, it should arguably pique the interest of Titleist players who don’t quite fit the Pro V1 ball.
