Which one has the speed, forgiveness, accuracy, distance, spin and launch to best suit your golf swing? There are plenty of options to choose from in the class of 2025. Read on and make up your own mind…

NEW 2025 DRIVERS

Callaway Elyte

TaylorMade Qi35

Cobra DS-Adapt

PING G440

Wilson Dynapwr

Srixon ZXi

Cleveland Hi-Bore XL

CALLAWAY ELYTE

Replacing the previous Callaway Ai Smoke, the Elyte driver features a series of upgrades in just about every area of the driver you can think of. We’re not joking…

Callaway green returns in the Elyte, a not-so-subtle nod to the Callaway Epic/Epic Speed of yesteryear. And boasting four different models, the Elyte line covers just about every segment of the handicap spectrum.

What’s new?

The new Elyte driver range features the latest edition of Callaway’s A.I. designed face. Harnessing the power of real player data, the Elyte face features a 16-fold increase in the number of individual “sweet spots” of speed and forgiveness in comparison to the Ai Smoke face.

Meanwhile, Callaway have created a more streamlined head shape to elevate club head speed through the air, while a new thermoforged crown saves weight and lowers the centre of gravity, cutting spin and juicing ball speed.

The Elyte driver range also sees Callaway adopt discrete weighting positions in preference to an adjustable weight track, saving weight and improving CG tuning.

Models

Callaway Elyte: the standard Elyte model offers equal serves of speed and forgiveness. Will be the best option for the broadest segment of skill levels and offers draw, neutral and fade settings.
Callaway Elyte X: draw-biased model that’s your slice straightener. Can also be configured for a neutral flight, which also results in a higher launch and more forgiveness.
Callaway Elyte Max Fast: the ultra-lightweight option designed to assist moderate swing speeds.
Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond: tour-spec driver offering a low-spin/low-launch performance profile and a compact 450cc head that aids workability.

The inside word

Callaway wanted to merge the speed of their 2021 Epic driver — which was incredibly fast out of the middle of the face — with their more forgiveness focused efforts in the Rogue ST, Paradym and Ai Smoke follow-ups. The result is the Elyte, and a performance profile without any trade-offs.

TAYLORMADE Qi35

The new TaylorMade Qi35 driver, the follow-up to the Qi10, decouples speed and forgiveness by merging a lower CG projection with maximum MOI and stability. What’s that mean?

Shifting the CG projection lower means a greater proportion of the Qi35 face occupies the nexus where max speed and forgiveness intersect. And that means longer and straighter drives in 2025.

And with four Qi35 driver models, TaylorMade have almost every angle of performance covered.

What’s new?

A new Trajectory Adjustment System (TAS) is a unique fixture in all four Qi35 drivers. It’s a responsive weighting system that is perfect for creating efficient spin and launch angle by tuning the driver’s balance point (where the head's centre of gravity aligns with the face).

The Qi35 also features the fourth generation of TaylorMade’s carbon Twist Face. The carbon fibre also extends to the Qi35's Infinity Crown to lower the centre of gravity. Carbon fibre also appears in other areas to displace mass. with TaylorMade redeploying it somewhere more beneficial in the head.

Models

TaylorMade Qi35: the core Qi35 model will match the greatest proportion of golfers. Front and back sole weighting tunes CG and flight trajectory.
TaylorMade Qi35 LS: the low-spin/low-launch model. Features three weights that can tune launch and introduce a draw bias.
TaylorMade Qi35 Max: the most forgiving driver in the Qi35 line-up. An oversized head profile fitted with a 34g inertia generator boosts MOI beyond 10k.
TaylorMade Qi35 Max Lite: The ultra-light Qi35 driver model is 34g lighter than the Qi35 Max. A lightweight shaft, grip and head should help slow-to-moderate swing speed players gain distance off the tee.

The inside word

One of 2025’s most forgiving drivers, the Qi35’s downrange dispersion has been tightened by 13 per cent compared to the Qi10 driver. The minimalist grey head is reminiscent of Titleist, but the Qi35's fast ball speeds and solid feel is very TaylorMade.

COBRA DS-ADAPT

Cobra’s new adjustable hosel is the most significant new feature of any 2025 driver. Offering 33 loft and lie angle positions, the FutureFit33 hosel makes the new Cobra DS-Adapt driver the most fittable driver in the game.

What’s new?

Cobra’s DS-Adapt line-up latches on to the customisation trend with the new FutureFit33 hosel system. It’s the most adjustable hosel in the game and can personalise performance via 33 loft and lie angle adjustments — more than double that of Cobra’s nearest competitor.

Speed is enhanced in the DS-Adapt line-up via progressive head aerodynamics. Meanwhile, Cobra’s new internal Adaptive Weighting system is loft specific: weight is positioned within the driver head to achieve optimal ball flight and forgiveness. And on the face, Cobra’s H.O.T variable thickness face design has been improved, expanding the sweet spot to increase ball speed across a greater area of the driver face.

Models

Cobra DS-Adapt LS: the low-spinning, low-launching model features a compact 445cc head. Will suit higher swing speeds and features movable weights that can finetune performance.
Cobra DS-Adapt X: a balancing act between speed and forgiveness means the X will suit the widest range of handicaps and skill levels. Also features movable weights that can be used to tune performance, particularly in conjunction with the FutureFit33 hosel.
Cobra DS-Adapt Max-K: the most forgiving DS-Adapt model. In fact, the Cobra DS-Adapt Max-K is the most forgiving Cobra driver, period, with an MOI exceeding 10K.
Cobra DS-Adapt Max-D: the draw-biased, slice-killer. With a heel loaded with discretionary weight, the Max-D is primed to help the face shut sqaure at impact.

The inside word

The FutureFit33 adjustable hosel may be the headline act in the DS-Adapt driver range but the new DS-Adapt Max-K model flies under the radar. It’s Cobra’s first 10k driver and if you’re seeking stability, consistency, forgiveness, with the bonus of considerable adjustability, it represents excellent value. Meanwhile, the LS and X models feature movable weights for excellent adjustability and fine-tuning.

PING G440

PING’s two-year release cycle meant the PING G440 driver was the most eagerly awaited release of 2025. However, the G440 isn’t the glitziest or sexiest release of 2025. You see, PING won’t release a new club without first confirming it outperforms its predecessor significantly. But with the G440 now on the ground, it seems the wait has been more than worth it.

What’s new?

While a fair amount of PING’s previous driver technology has migrated into the new G440 range, PING undertook a considerable weight purge in the new model to unlock performance gains.

While only the previous G430 LST model featured PING’s CarbonFly Wrap crown, it’s now standard across the entire G440 driver line-up and extends all the way into the toe area.

PING also saved weight with a redesigned hosel, while a thinner face also freed up mass. All up, PING repackaged 10g of weight savings lower and deeper in the driver head. The result is tighter dispersion, greater forgiveness and more speed off the tee.

Models

PING G440 Max: the most forgiving driver in the G440 range. Fitted with a 29g back weight that can slot into the draw, neutral or fade ports, the G440 Max driver will suit the most golfers.
PING G440 LST: a slightly smaller, pear-shaped 450cc head aids workability. Weighted for a low-spinning and low-launching performance profile, the G440 LST will suit faster swing speeds.
PING G440 SFT: with a Draw and Draw+ weighting slot, the G440 SFT will produce 13 and 20 yards of slice correction, respectively.

The inside word

PING have always had an extremely loyal following, with forgiveness a major focus. That remains unchanged in the G440 line-up and the new blue colourway makes it one of the best looking drivers in 2025. PING’s performance validation process means the new G440 driver line-up will perform impressively for a broad range of players.

WILSON DYNAPWR

The new Dynapwr driver range sees Wilson step up to the big leagues. For the first time, Wilson release three distinctly different driver models to cover a much broader range of handicaps and skill levels.

While three models isn’t exactly ground-breaking for it's competitors, it’s a major deal for Wilson. How does the new Dynapwr driver stack up? Featuring a lower price point than the Big Five, it'll be Wilson's best shot yet...

What’s new?

Last year’s Dynapwr drive line-up featured a Carbon and Titanium model. This year, the Carbon model returns and is joined by a new Max and LS model.

Wilson’s A.I. design process created a fast new PKR360 face that appears throughout the Dynapwr driver range. The new face's expansive sweet spot should create longer, straighter drives, no matter where you strike it on the face.

Meanwhile, a new skirt design on the rear of the Dynapwr driver head produces higher club head speeds by improving aerodynamic efficiency. And an open hosel design gave Wilson the ability to finetune centre of gravity, creating more separation in performance between the three Dynapwr driver models.

Models

Wilson Dynapwr LS: low-spin/low-launch model that will suit fast swing speeds. Smaller 445cc head helps better players work the ball through the air while a carbon fibre crown and front and back weights assist flight tuning.
Wilson Dynapwr Carbon: offers the most balanced blend of spin and speed, plus more forgiveness than the previous Dynapwr Carbon driver. Its tour inspired 460cc head is matched with a carbon fibre crown. And Wilson have cleverly minimised the footprint of the driver; it appears more compact than it is, to promote workability.
Wilson Dynapwr Max: the lightweight model and the most forgiving Dynapwr driver. Features a titanium crown, is longer front-to-back and wider heel-to-toe than the other Dynapwr drivers. The Max’s rear weight can be swapped to create a draw biased ball flight.

The inside word

Wilson’s Dynapwr driver range will surprise you… just give it a go.

Srixon ZXi Driver Range

SRIXON ZXi

Srixon drivers have generally flown under the radar but the new ZXi line-up is set to flip that notion on its head. The ZXi driver range offers a trio of models that are differentiated according to spin requirements. Offering performance gains to rival the big guns, the new Srixon ZXi line-up is a must-try in any driver roadtest.

What’s new?

Srixon employed a lighter, more flexible and more durable form of titanium in the ZXi driver face. The switch to Ti72S titanium meant Srixon could institute their new iFlex technology. iFlex features a thinned out the face (only possible by switching to the new titanium) and features a more intricate design on the rear of the face that generates faster and more forgiving performance.

The iFlex face interacts with Srixon’s Rebound Frame system, which, in tandem with the face, produces a trampoline-like effect to boost ball speeds and elevate forgiveness.

The new Srixon ZXi driver line-up also includes a new user-friendly 12 position adjustable hosel.

Models

Srixon ZXi: offers a combination of speed and forgiveness, with spin rates at the lower end of the spectrum. A mid-to-high launch window and a neutral ball flight is standard but the ZXi can be biased for a fade by flipping the sole weights.
Srixon ZXi Max: the most forgiving Srixon driver ever made. A 14g rear weight shifts mass low and rearward, creating a high launch and slight draw bias. The choice for slow-to-moderate swing speeds.
Srixon ZXi LS: the low-spin, low-launch model. Designed for fast swing speeds and offers a slight draw bias. Front and back weights can tune spin and launch.

The inside word

Will Srixon’s ZXi driver range change your mind? As Srixon’s longest and fastest driver yet, it’s more than capable and should be part of the conversation.

CLEVELAND HI-BORE XL

With Max driver models taking over from game improvement drivers, Cleveland correct course with their new Hi-Bore XL driver.

It’s an unashamed game improvement driver targeted at the casual golfer. So, if your chief concern is to get the ball off the tee with minimal effort and a decent level of consistency, the Cleveland Hi-Bore XL should be on your radar.

What’s new?

The Cleveland Hi-Bore XL driver’s triangular head shape and gigantic face set it apart from every other driver in 2025.

The driver’s head tapers to a sharp point at its rearmost extremity to shift weight low and deep in the head, improving launch and forgiveness (Hi-Bore refers to the driver's high-launching ball flight that bores through the air). The driver face is also 19 per cent larger than the one seen on its predecessor — the Cleveland Launcher XL2 driver

The Cleveland Hi-Bore XL driver face also features a more efficient version of Cleveland’s MainFrame technology, which is the driver’s variable thickness face design. A larger sweet spot offers significant ball speed and distance gains, particularly for strikes outside the centre.

Meanwhile, an ActivWing aerodynamic enhancer appears on the crown of the Hi-Bore XL. Its purpose is to redirect airflow to deliver more consistency at impact and tighten up downrange dispersion.

Models

Cleveland Hi-Bore XL: unashamed game improvement driver with enough forgiveness and distance to help casual golfers improve off the tee.
Cleveland Hi-Bore XL Lite: a lighter chassis and lightweight shaft helps boost clubhead speed while a slight draw bias straightens up a slice.

The inside word

If you can ignore the Dorito-shaped head, the Cleveland Hi-Bore XL is a simple, no-nonsense solution off the tee. If you’re the kind of golfer who doesn’t obsess about their swing but wants to enjoy the game, choosing the Hi-Bore XL driver is an easy decision.
