Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Diamond Driver
Following on from the rerelease of the legend that is the Callaway Great Big Bertha, comes the Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver. Designed for the better player with even more adjustability and a heavier upgraded shaft. The successful technology from previous Big Berthas have been carried over with improvements. Including the Next Generation R Moto face technology and Dual distance chambers.
The name is abit of a 'tongue twister' but ironically the adjustments to the MOI allows for the head to twist just enough for great workability and better dispersion.
With the introduction of the gravity core in the recent Big Bertha models, that was positioned in the centre of the head. Callaway have decided to install dual distance chambers. One in the toe and one in the heel which offers extra adjustment options to reach that desired ball flight and higher MOI through the ball.
How to use the Gravity Core for Draw/Neutral/Fade Ball Flights
The multiple options available on the Alpha 816 makes custom fitting even more necessary, as the correct gravity core location is vital to get the maximum performance out of the Alpha.
f you Fade or Slice – Move Gravity Core to the Draw (Heel) Chamber to decrease slice spin or to achieve a Draw
If you Draw Or Hook – Move Gravity Core to the Neutral (Toe) Chamber to decrease draw spin or to achieve a Fade
After selecting the chamber move the gravity core weight up or down depending on your usual strike location to increase ball speed.
If your strikes are High on the face – Place the silver end of the Gravity Core in the up position (towards the crown).
If your strikes are Neutral on the face – Place the silver end of the Gravity Core in the down position (towards the sole) to boost ball speed performance.
If your strikes are Low on the face – Place the silver end of the Gravity Core in the down position (towards the sole)
The head size of the Big Bertha Alpha is at the optimum 460cc. Which is unusual for a better players driver. When comparing the Big Bertha Alpha to the Great Big Bertha you wouldn't think that both drivers have the same 460cc head capacity. With the Alpha looking much smaller at address. This will suit the better players eye for more workable shots.
Optifit technology offers 8 different loft and lie options to fine tune to your golf swing by increasing loft up to 2 degrees, decreasing by 1, Draw or Neutral settings.
The very impressive Aftermarket Aldila Rogue shaft has been introduced as the stock shaft for the Callaway Big Bertha 816 Alpha with its heavier weight and low spin/torque figures. With multiple high performance custom shafts available at no up-charge. Including the Aldila Tour Green and the Fujikura Speeder.
A composite crown head design offers a very light, yet durable driver head with the addition of the R Moto face technology making the driver face even hotter than previous models for consistent spin and faster ball speeds.
A lot of technology is packed into the Big Bertha range, giving Callaway a very impressive performing product.
