Callaway Elyte Irons (2025)
Posted by GolfBox on 2nd Jan 2025
You’ve gotta give Callaway credit where credit is due. Their new Elyte game improvement iron offering is supersized. And just to be clear, we’re not talking just about the size of the heads.
Callaway have served up four Elyte iron models designed to assist your everyday, distance-challenged, mid-to-high handicap golfer. That figure is double the number of their closest competitor in the 2025 game improvement iron category.
All the Elyte favourites are there, including an Ai 10x face and redesigned Speed Frame chassis. But Callaway have pulled the design levers to engineer idiosyncratic performance into each of the four Elyte iron models.
It means the new Elyte iron range really should have something for everyone. All you need to do is work out which one best fits your game.
CALLAWAY'S Ai 10x FACE
Callaway have built their Elyte iron range around a new distance-boosting face design.
If you’ve already heard about the Ai 10x face in the Elyte drivers then copy and paste for the irons. If you haven’t yet, let us explain.
Last year’s Callaway Ai Smoke face introduced the concept of zoned forgiveness. Analysing real player data, artificial intelligence inserted pockets of forgiveness in the areas of the face where it was determined players needed it most.
For the new Elyte face, Callaway have enhanced their A.I. process exponentially by inputting better data — and more of it — into the system.
It’s resulted in 10 times as many “control points”, as Callaway call it, on the Elyte face. Those pockets of speed and forgiveness raise ball speed, tighten dispersion and boost forgiveness.
But it’s not a one-and-done kinda deal in the Elyte iron — the Ai 10x face is optimised for specific player types in each of the four Elyte models.
NEW ELYTE SPEED FRAME
Callaway’s Speed Frame isn’t new but it’s been refined in Elyte irons to produce faster ball speeds.
An internal structure that marries up to the new Ai 10x face, Speed Frame supports the face just enough without torpedoing its speed-creating flexibility. In the Elyte iron line-up each model has its own specific Speed Frame design. However, the issue with the quasi hollow-bodied Speed Frame design is that it needs something extra to make it feel and sound right.
Enter a new version of Callaway’s famous urethane microspheres.
While best experienced for yourself, Callaway reckon their new urethane microspheres recipe delivers better feel and a more luscious impact sound. That hideous pipe-creaking-under-pressure impact noise heard in other game improvement irons is absent, replaced by a crisp, clean sound reminiscent of a player’s iron.
ELYTE TRI SOLE
The new Tri Sole grind installed on Callaway Elyte irons ensures the sole gets in and out of the turf with incredible efficiency.
The Tri Sole’s sharper leading edge has been raised, which lessens the chances of it digging into the turf behind the ball. On the back of the sole, the trailing edge is chamfered, promoting a smoother exit of the club head out of the turf.
Meanwhile, the middle section of the sole has been designed to enhance forgiveness. Featuring slight relief out of the heel and toe for versatility, it’s designed to execute out of all types of lies.
CALLAWAY ELYTE IRON MODELS
CALLAWAY ELYTE IRON
The standard Callaway Elyte iron model offers a blend of game-improving speed and distance. But it doesn’t look like your typical game improvement iron. It features a slimmed-down head shape and topline, less offset and narrower sole than the other three Elyte models. Designed for players with faster swing speeds, the Elyte iron offers a mid-high launch/low-spin performance profile.
CALLAWAY ELYTE X IRON
The Callaway Elyte X iron features a larger head and cavity back construction that will max out forgiveness for players with faster swing speeds. The X model has a thicker topline, more offset and wider sole than the standard Elyte iron and also launches higher.
CALLAWAY ELYTE HL IRON
The Callaway Elyte HL, or high launch model, is designed for slow-to-mid swing speeds. Featuring weaker lofts and a unique face topography, the Elyte HL iron boosts distance and stopping power through its higher launch window and increased spin rates.
CALLAWAY ELYTE MAX FAST IRON
Built on a platform of extreme lightweight performance, Elyte Max Fast irons are optimised for slow swing speeds. Engineered to produce speed and a high launching ball flight, the Max Fast model relies on technology to maximise distance for players who need it most. Callaway also offer Elyte Max Fast Women's irons.
