Golfers have long held a soft spot for golf-related gadgetry but the new MGI Ai Navigator GPS+ electric buggy takes it to another level.
An upgrade to the popular Zip Navigator, the new buggy features a fully integrated GPS unit on the handle that provides ultra-accurate yardages and hole overviews for over 40,000 courses.
But MGI haven’t just opted for a digital sugar hit with the Ai Navigator GPS+.
They’ve gone back to basics and redesigned the entire buggy from the ground up, making it extra compact, better balanced, and significantly more user friendly.
GPS SCREEN
The full-colour, 4-inch touchscreen display is the centrepiece of the Ai Navigator GPS+ buggy.
The unit is easy to read and will automatically lock on to the nearest course.
Offering a birds-eye view of the current hole and yardages to the rear, middle and front of the green, users can also obtain the distance to any location on the course map using the touchscreen pointer.
The buggy’s GPS unit, which doesn’t require a subscription fee, can also keep score, track the distance of drives and compile shot statistics.
A USB charging port on the handle will keep devices topped up during a round while a speed dial under the GPS screen can be used to manually adjust the buggy’s velocity.
NEW REMOTE AND BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY
A fully directional handheld remote, which is now more compact than previous MGI controllers, can steer the MGI Ai Navigator GPS+ buggy from over 100m away.
But it’s not the only way to steer your on-course steed.The buggy’s GPS unit can connect via Bluetooth to the free MGI app, which offers a virtual handheld remote that will also effortlessly guide the buggy along the fairways.
The app also relays mapping and distance calculations from the buggy’s GPS, along with all the scoring and statistical functionality.
Bluetooth also enables incoming phone calls, messages and notifications to be synced with the GPS screen.
REFINED BY DESIGN
MGI have made several refinements to the Ai Navigator GPS+ to make it ultra-user friendly.
The buggy unfolds in one motion and stores compactly, with the wheels now able to be inverted for even greater space-saving efficiency.
Another redesign sees the buggy’s 24V lithium battery, which can get through 36 holes per charge, moved from the rear to the middle of the buggy.
It shifts the buggy’s centre of gravity to enhance stability — particularly when going up steep inclines — in conjunction with the foldable fifth wheel on the rear of the buggy.
The buggy’s swivelling twin wheels at the front have also received attention, a wider track improving stability, while MGI’s gyroscopic tracking technology keeps the buggy’s rear wheels (powered by twin 230W motors) tracking straight over any terrain.
