Mizuno M.CRAFT OMOI Putters 2023

Posted by GolfBox on 25th Aug 2023

Fans of M.Craft putters will no doubt be saying “OMOI gosh” when they see what Mizuno has served up for 2023.

A batch of three new putters joins the M.Craft OMOI line-up this August, continuing the heavyweight design philosophy of the previous models.

In the happiest of coincidences, the Japanese word “omoi” translates to heavy, while in golfing terms the last three letters, MOI (moment of inertia), translate to forgiveness.

The new OMOI 04, 05 and 06 putters offer impressive levels of stability, feel and control and boast improved impact acoustics off the face.

And all those highly admirable traits should translate into an avalanche of holed bombs out on the greens.

HEAVY LIFTING

The three new OMOI putters all feature heavier heads that, depending on the model, are loaded with up to 28g more mass than standard.

According to Mizuno, the heavier head weight offers multiple benefits.

It boosts stability of the putter head by minimising the twisting of the face that occurs when strikes aren’t out of the centre.

And it also improves the consistency of roll and offers a highly satisfying, pure feel off the putter face.

OMOI SHAFT AND GRIP COMBINATION

Mizuno have also balanced the heftier head weight with a lightweight shaft (KBS Tour) and grip (Lamkin OMOI Sink Fit Pistol) that improves the overall swing feel of the new OMOI putters.

The shaft and grip combination subtly shifts the centre of gravity of the putter to make each new OMOI model more effortless to swing and the face easier to square at impact.

Like their OMOI predecessors, the new trio is forged from 1025 steel, with precision CNC-milled head shapes and faces promoting a soft and silky feel.

A pair of 8g heel and toe sole weights are standard but they can be substituted with alternative Mizuno weights to personalise and finetune feel.
