Scotty Cameron Phantom Putters 2024
Posted by GolfBox on 28th Mar 2024
To create the new 2024 Phantom putter range, Scotty Cameron asked for a little help from some of his good mates. Those mates included current Phantom users Max Homa and Justin Thomas who, if you haven’t heard, are some of the world’s best professional golfers and have claimed two major victories between them (JT: 2, Homa: 0).
The longer Scotty spent chatting to said mates, the more he became aware that correct alignment was a critical issue for even the best players in the world. And so Max and JT’s feedback convinced Scotty that a complete redesign of the 2024 Phantom mallet range was necessary to line up with what tour pros reallywanted to see in a Phantom flatstick.
The result is four unique Phantom head shapes that are optimised for alignment and targeting, while also being more stable and consistent. And with various hosel and shaft options available, the new Phantom range offers pure-rolling performance and elite feel for every kind of putting stroke.
Australian Release Date: March 29, 2024 (Phantom 11, 11.5, 11 Long models due May 17, 2024)

SIGHT FOR SORE EYES
Scotty Cameron calls the new Phantom designs “fast-looking head shapes” but the mallets’ shaping serves another purpose: it actually helps set the putter up at address correctly. The head shape is a major component of the Phantom range’s “alignment system”, which also includes various targeting aids ranging from milled dots to sight lines with arrows. The overall impact of this whole-head approach to alignment is a putter that is super easy to set up straight and square at address.
MULTI-MATERIAL PUTTERS
Scotty Cameron 2024 Phantom putters stick with the proven recipe of a 303 stainless steel body and face melded with a lightweight 6061 aluminium flange and sole plate. However, after listening to player feedback, the new designs have been made more rigid. It boosts stability and promotes a very solid impact feel, complemented by Scotty Cameron’s new vibration damping system that enhances feedback off the face at impact.
DUAL-MILLED FACE
Last year’s Scotty Cameron Super Select line-up saw the introduction of a new dual-milled face concept. It was a big hit out on tour and it’s been given the green light for the 2024 Phantom range. The dual-milled face involves a deep initial face mill being quickly followed by a shallower second pass to level out any peaks, creating a flatter and more consistent surface that provides superior feel, sound and feedback.
WEIGHT FOR IT...
Stainless steel heel and toe weights are fitted to the sole of every Phantom, except the 11 Long which boasts a pair of heavier 25g tungsten weights. The weights can be interchanged to customise performance and refine feel. Meanwhile, a new paddle-style grip appears on the Phantom range in 2024. Riffing off the memorable Baby T design used on previous Scotty Cameron models, the grip features a flat top surface that connects with the putter’s face angle. The grip’s new “chain link” texture offers comfort, feel and reliability in all weather conditions.
PHANTOM 5
The Phantom 5 mallet is near face-balanced, a single mid-bend shaft with a full-shaft of offset designed to enhance putting strokes with a minimal rotation of the face. It features a more compact shape and refined wing angles, complemented by dot alignment on the topline.
PHANTOM 5.5
The Phantom 5.5 is identical to the Phantom 5’s redesigned head shape but features a small slant “jet” hosel. It creates a moderate amount of toe hang and will suit more arcing strokes.
PHANTOM 5s
The 5s features the same winged, high-MOI design as the other Phantom 5 putters. But it is centre shafted and face-balanced to complement straight-back-and-through strokes. The configuration of the 5s also provides an unobstructed view of the face at address, which makes it super easy to set the putter square behind the ball.
PHANTOM 7
The Phantom 7 offers a tour-proven look. The latest update features longer and less angular wings while a mid-bend shaft featuring a full-shaft offset makes the 7 almost face-balanced to suit straighter putting strokes. A dot alignment system appears on the 7’s topline.
PHANTOM 7.5
The Phantom 7.5 replicates the 7 head shape but there’s one important difference: a small slant hosel, called the “jet” neck, provides toe hang and makes the Phantom 7.5 better suited to putting strokes that travel on a sweeping arc.
PHANTOM 9
A total redesign has improved alignment and MOI in the new Phantom 9. Long sightlines dominate the centre of the putter and the “ring weighted” design improves forgiveness and feel. The Phantom 9’s mid-bend shaft provides negligible toe hang, suiting straighter strokes.
PHANTOM 9.5
Scotty Cameron’s short slant “jet” hosel, with a full shaft offset, is the sole difference between the Phantom 9.5 and the Phantom 9. The putter provides a moderate amount of toe-hang to aid strokes that travel back and through on an arc.
PHANTOM 11
A complete redesign has given the new Phantom 11 more stability and boosted its alignment functionality. Characterised by a prominent alignment arrow running through its centre, the Phantom 11 is a sleek and stable high MOI mallet and with a mid-bend shaft, it is face-balanced to suit straight-back-and-through strokes.
PHANTOM 11.5
For blade-like feel in a compact mallet, the new Phantom 11.5 delivers. Featuring an identical head to the Phantom 11, the 11.5 is paired with a low-bend shaft that creates a moderate amount of toe-hang and is an excellent match for arcing strokes.
PHANTOM 11 LONG DESIGN
The Phantom 11 Long is a counterbalanced putter that features a longer and heavier 17-inch shaft and 135g grip. The head is similar to the Phantom 11 in shape but it’s heavier, with twin 25g tungsten weights fitted to the sole. A custom mid-bend shaft is stiffer, to accommodate the heavier head weight, and the unique design aids a balanced and stable stroke by keeping the hands quiet.
