Taylormade M CGB Irons - COR BLIMEY!
Posted by GolfBox on 12th Sep 2017
If you’re after a game improvement iron, then look no further: the new TaylorMade M CGB irons are on their way and their performance is game-changing.
TaylorMade M CGB irons take over from where the R7 CGB irons, (released over a decade ago) left off, but in terms of technology they are light years apart.
Designed for maximum distance and full-face forgiveness, TaylorMade have literally pushed the limits when designing the M CGB irons. Every club in the set (4-PW) is maxed out on the legal COR (Coefficient Of Restitution, also known as the trampoline effect) threshold of 0.83.
What that means for golfing battlers out there is a set of TaylorMade M CGB irons will be like having a bag full of drivers, making it easier than ever to hit the ball high, long and straight. In fact, short of the M CGB iron making the perfect swing for you, it won’t get any easier to play and enjoy the game.
TAYLORMADE TECHNOLOGY, OF CORS
While driver technology has been on the COR limit for some time, TaylorMade have achieved this remarkable COR in the M CGB irons through an inventive design and an ultra-thin clubface thickness of under 2mm, which translates into higher ball speeds and distance off the clubface.
Featuring extra large clubheads, a deep cavity back and significant offset, TaylorMade M CGB irons are confidence-inspiring at address and are crafted from a mix of materials.
The hollow body construction of the TaylorMade M CGB is cast from 450 stainless steel, with small, milled tungsten weights positioned low in the back of the clubhead.
The tungsten weights help to position the CG of the TaylorMade M CGB irons ultra-low for a high launch trajectory and a penetrating ball flight. Spin rates are optimised for every iron in the set, with more spin for the longer irons to help launch the ball high but less spin on the higher lofted irons to counteract the detrimental ballooning ball flight that some game improvement irons can generate.
A Hybrar synthetic rubber compression damper reduces vibration in the TaylorMade M CGB irons for a soft but active feel. The damper links with a stiff 3D sound-managing badge that sits prominently on the back of the irons and improves the acoustics at impact for a solid sounding strike.
Thin and flexible soles that feature a ‘Speed Pocket’ on every iron in the set enhance forgiveness and distance from strikes low on the clubface, while Face Slots engineered into the edge of the clubface (next to the grooves) transform heel and toe mis-hits into pass marks instead of painful reminders of your mediocrity.
