Titleist TSR Drivers, Fairways and Hybrids (2023)

Posted by GolfBox on 21st Feb 2023

After a stunning run of success on the PGA Tour ahead of their official release, Titleist's new TSR drivers and fairway woods are finally here.

Titleist’s quest to create the fastest drivers and fairways in the game began with their TS range - which stood for “Titleist Speed” - and was further advanced with the TSi family, the successor to the TS.

The new Titleist TSR range sticks closely to the original TS ethos but takes it in an innovative new direction – the 'R' in TSR stands for "redefined".

The TSR family’s overarching design creates more speed through the air and bigger sweetspots on the face – delivering the most speed, distance and forgiveness that Titleist has ever created.

And with four TSR Drivers, four TSR Fairway Woods and three TSR Hybrids to choose from, there’s a model to suit every different type of golfer.

The TSR Drivers are design to create more speed through the air and provide you with a bigger sweetspots on the face.

The TSR Fairway Woods are designed to launch higher and faster and are more forgiving than ever before.

The TSR Hybrids bring incredible playing power and precise gapping options to transition seamlessly from TSR Metals.

Titleist TSR Drivers

The smug confidence that comes with extra distance and increased forgiveness is what the new Titleist TSR driver range can bring to your game.

While the four models – TSR1, TSR2, TSR3 and TSR4 – share many similarities, such as the classic Titleist looks, each one is designed for a different type of golfer.

There’s an aim-and-pull-the-trigger bomber, a fully adjustable driver with draw or fade bias, a smaller, low-spin model that launches lower for a more penetrating trajectory and an ultra-lightweight model built for slow swing speeds.

Made for golfers with a low to moderate swing speed, the TSR1 driver prioritises speed and distance. A redesigned head and a lightweight shaft and grip combine to make it 40g lighter than the TSR2 driver.

The ultra-lightweight design boosts club head speed, launch and distance for players with a swing speed under 90mph. The TSR1 driver has the deepest CG in the range to maximise launch and ball speed, while the tip of MMT SpeedMesh shaft is tuned for maximum energy transfer at impact.

TSR1 Driver Tech

Ultra-Lightweight

Every unnecessary gram, from head to grip, has been eliminated from the design of TSR1. It is strategically engineered to be as light as possible while still providing maximum launch and distance dynamics.

Variable Face Thickness

This new Variable Face Thickness (VFT) construction creates a large sweet spot across the entire hitting surface. In other words, it produces amazing forgiveness and ball speed from every strike.

Face-Centered CG

The deep center of gravity (CG) in the TSR1 Driver is almost perfectly centered to the face, an improved position that promotes a higher launch and exceptional ball speed.

The TSR2 is the point-and-bomb model, offering maximum speed and stability. More pear-shaped than the TSi2 it is replacing – a change recommended by Titleist’s tour staff - it is also more aerodynamic.

The secret sauce is the new face topography, which expands forgiveness over a larger area so mis-hits retain speed. A rear weight (9g, but interchangeable) has been shifted from the sole to the overhang of the crown, which increases launch angle for extra carry distance while boosting MOI.

Improved Aerodynamics

Greater speed means greater distance, and the new shape of TSR2 has been refined to make it as fast as possible through the air. The redesigned toe shape also improves the face angle for a better look at address.

Titleist TSR2 Driver Tech - VFT Face

Variable Face Thickness

Variable Face Thickness (VFT) tech creates nearly constant CT across the entire hitting surface. In other words, it produces amazing forgiveness and ball speed from anywhere on the face, whether pure or mis-hit.

Titleist TSR2 Driver Tech - Speed & Stability

Speed & Stability

The CG placement plays a key role in both speed and forgiveness. For TSR2, the CG has been shifted both lower and more forward to increase ball speed while improving launch and spin.

The TSR3 offers precise flight shape tuning, which makes it the most playable driver of the TSR treble. An 8g weight on the rear of the sole can be moved into five different positions to create a draw or fade bias.

But key to the TSR3’s performance is the Speed Ring, which is hidden internally behind the middle of the face. The Speed Ring enhances performance when strikes are out of the centre, making the TSR3 a top choice for flushers who find the middle of the face frequently.

Speed Ring Technology

Using a conical variable face thickness, Titleist engineers are able to focus the maximum CT/COR relationship into one central point of pure speed.

Titleist TSR3 Driver Tech - Adjustability

SureFit Adjustability

The SureFit Adjustable CG Track System makes it easier to position CG where you want it, to generate maximum ball speed and performance.

Boasting a smaller head than its siblings (430cc vs 460cc), the TSR4 driver is the spin-killing model which also offers adjustability. Two sole weights (11g and 3g) can be swapped to achieve different ball flights.

The heavier weight in the rear will cut spin by 300rpm and create a lower launch; the opposite will increase spin but still generate a lower launch than the TSR3 (more akin to a TSR3.5). Like the TSR2, it has a face structure that produces more speed across the entire face area.

Player-Tuned Performance

TSR4 is an ultra-low spin driver with a smaller head than its siblings (430cc) with a focus on feel as it moves through the air and the sound it makes at impact.

Titleist TSR4 Driver Tech - VFT Face

Variable Face Thickness

Variable Face Thickness (VFT) construction is used in TSR4 to build the face inward, layer by layer, offering more consistent speed and distance across the entire hitting surface.

Titleist TSR4 Driver Tech - Spin Control

Adjustable Spin Control

TSR4 has front and back weighting options. The forward setting produces maximum spin reduction, while the back creates almost a TSR3.5 performance profile.

Titleist TSR Fairway Woods

Titleist focused on the four Fs when designing the TSR range of fairway woods: Flight, Feel, Form and Forgiveness.

The redesign has produced four classic-looking, tour-inspired TSR fairway woods – TSR1, TSR2, TSR2+ and TSR3. The four models are designed to launch higher and faster and are more forgiving than ever before.

But it’s the addition of the naughty TSR2+ that makes the TSR fairway wood range intriguing – with a bigger head it’s intended as a driver alternative for better players.

Designed for players with slow swing speeds, the TSR1 fairway wood increases distance by helping players get their ball into the air higher and faster.

Despite its large head profile (180cc), the TSR1 fairway wood is 20g lighter than its TSR2 counterpart. The new head shape, combined with the lightweight shaft, also makes it the most forgiving fairway in the line-up.

TSR1 Fairway Tech

Ultra-Lightweight Design

Through advanced modeling and player testing, the TSR1 fairways strike the perfect balance of lightweight feel and maximum inertia to create faster swing speeds and even faster ball speeds.

Open Hosel Construction

This new design removes unwanted weight high in the heel, freeing Titleist engineers to shift the CG lower and further back from the face. This makes TSR1 fairways incredibly forgiving and easy to launch.

Refined Performance

Confidence lies in the details, and TSR1 fairways continue to utilize direct player feedback to dial in the combination of looks, sound and feel that will prompt you to play your best.

Titleist TSR2 Fairway Woods - Feature

TThe TSR2 fairway wood is the highest-launching of the three models and also the most forgiving. With Titleist’s Active Recoil Channel not included in the TSR fairway range, it freed up mass to be positioned more effectively and further forward, which increases ball speed while also retaining stability.

The TSR2 fairway is easy to hit and is effective off the tee or from any lie.

Player-Tuned Performance

TSR2 Fairways produce better ball flight, they also help create a more powerful sound and feel. Players get the lively response they are looking for from every strike.

Titleist TSR2+ Fairway Woods - Feature

With most tour players rarely hitting their three woods into par fives and more often using them off the tee for accuracy, the TSR2+ was developed specifically as an alternative to the driver.

At 190cc it’s big (15cc bigger than the TSR2) and it is available in one loft: just 13˚. But the smooth sole of the TSR2+ means it will still perform well off the fairway if it’s called into action.

Built For the Tee

TSR2+ has a larger profile and more forgiveness than TSR2, making it perfect for players looking for a long but more accurate driving option. Yet with an easy, high launch it still makes for a confident play from the fairway.

Titleist TSR2+ Fairway Woods Tech - Deep Face CG

Deep, Face-Centered CG

With the deepest CG of any Titleist fairway, the TSR2+ is incredibly forgiving. Moving the CG closer to the center of the face also aids in creating straighter, purer ball flight. TSR2+ is designed for hitting it far with maximum accuracy..

Tour-Inspired Performance

TSR2+ is a club that Tour Pros asked for, but their influence goes beyond its creation. Every aspect of how the club looks, sounds and feels has been tuned to deliver the feel and feedback that players need to play their best.

Titleist TSR3 Fairway Woods - Feature

The TSR3 fairway wood promotes a more piercing trajectory and offers flight bias via its moveable weight in the sole. The SureFit CG track offers two draw and fade settings as well as a neutral slot if players want to work the ball both ways.

The TSR3’s compact, pear-shaped head and low-spinning properties – achieved with a more forward centre of gravity – make it an excellent option for players seeking precise performance.

Titleist TSR Hybrids

Titleist’s TSR hybrid line-up is split right down the centre of the performance line. There’s the TSR2 hybrid, which is skewed towards the size and shape of a fairway wood and offers higher-launching, more forgiving performance.

Meanwhile, the TSR3 hybrid is more like an iron and offers the precision and workability that better golfers demand in a long-iron replacement.

And the ultra-lightweight TSR1 hybrid is tuned for speed, distance and optimal launch with a longer and lighter shaft. Whichever side of the line your game stands, a Titleist TSR hybrid will provide exactly what you seek.

The TSR1 hybrid has extra weight stripped out of it to maximise speed and distance for players with slower swing speeds. A lightweight MMT shaft and grip is the TSR1’s secret weapon and a larger, fairway wood-like profile will inspire confidence at address.

TSR1 Hybrid Tech

Inspiring Head Shape

The TSR1 hybrid head shape is slightly larger, offering more of the feel and performance of a fairway metal with the accuracy of a hybrid. The larger profile is more forgiving and inspires greater player confidence over the ball.

Lightweight Design

Through advanced modeling and player testing, TSR1 hybrids strike the perfect balance of lightweight feel and maximum inertia. It’s a breakthrough approach that leads to faster swing speeds and even faster ball speeds.

Longer Fairway Shaft

TSR1 hybrids are equipped with longer fairway shafts that improve launch performance and clubhead speed. The higher balance point in these shafts is also instrumental in moving more weight into the head without increasing swing weight.

The TSR2 hybrid is the bigger of the two models and is designed for players who sweep the ball off the turf and rarely take a divot. It has a higher trajectory than the TSR3 hybrid and is also more forgiving, a longer blade length and deeper centre of gravity generating user-friendly stability.

TSR2 Hybrid Tech

Longer Blade Length

A slightly longer face moves the impact center further from the shaft, allows for more face flex and improves both ball speed and forgiveness. It’s a simple change that pays large dividends.

More Forgiving CG

By pushing the CG deeper while keeping it low, Titleist engineers can increase inertia without impacting launch dynamics. This leads to a more forgiving hybrid that still launches fast and easy.

Faster Through The Rough

Whether you’re hitting from the first cut or something a bit heavier, the added sole relief pockets on TSR2 hybrids are designed to get the club to the ball cleaner and more quickly.

The smaller and more iron-like TSR3 will suit players with a steeper angle of attack. It’s built for workability and precision: a SureFit adjustable CG weight track is fitted on the sole and features five slots with which to finetune ball flights — two more than the previous TSi3 hybrid.

TSR3 Hybrid Tech

Tour-Inspired Shape

TSR3 hybrids feature a profile inspired by popular predecessors to promote confidence from the start. A slight reduction in offset helps complete the players look.

SureFit Adjustability

The refined 5-position SureFit Adjustable CG Track System makes it easier to dial in the exact setup you need with a wider and more precise range of CG placements.

Faster Through the Rough

You can swing through the heavy stuff faster and cleaner with the added sole relief pockets on TSR3 hybrids leave less surface area to get hung up on.
