Abraham Ancer What's in the Bag? (2025)

Abraham Ancer What's in the Bag? (2025)

Posted by GolfBox on 18th Feb 2025

Diminutive Mexican Abraham Ancer has been a star for the Fireballs ever since joining the LIV Tour in 2022. Prior to making the switch, Ancer won the WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational in 2021, the Australian Open in 2018 and represented the Internationals at the President’s Cup.

In February 2023, he claimed the Saudi International on the Asian Tour prior to breaking through for his maiden LIV victory in 2024 when he beat Cameron Smith and Paul Casey in a playoff at LIV Hong Kong (March 8-10).  Abraham Ancer will again represent the Fireballs on the LIV Golf Tour in 2025 and finished runner-up at LIV Adelaide (February 14-16) second-up.

A free agent when it comes to his equipment choices, Abe’s bag features an eclectic assortment of clubs.

What clubs does Abraham Ancer use?

Let's take a look what's inside Abraham Ancer's bag:

WITB UPDATE: 14/02/2025: Plays PING G440 LS driver and new 2025 Titleist Pro V1x golf ball (LIV Adelaide).

ABRAHAM ANCER DRIVER

PING G440 LST (10.5°)

Abe swapped out his PING G430 LST driver for the new PING G440 LST driver at the start of 2025. While Abe’s diminutive stature means he’s never going to match Bryson, DJ and Brooks off the tee, the G440 LST might just help him close the distance gap off the tee somewhat.

The G440 LST features a compact 450cc head and is the low-spinning, low-launching driver in the PING G440 range. PING found 10g of weight savings in the PING G440 LST to make the driver both faster and longer.

PING’s CarbonFly wrap, which now extends into the toe of the G440 LST driver, was the main driver of weight savings. The PING G440 LST driver features a trio of fixed weighting positions supplemented by 29g rear weight, which Abe has set in the neutral position.

ABRAHAM ANCER FAIWAY WOOD

TAYLORMADE Qi10 TOUR FAIRWAY (3W - 15°) - CALLAWAY ROGUE ST LS PROTOTYPE (5W)

As an equipment free agent, Abraham plays clubs he feels will make him a better player. With that in mind, it was interesting to note how quickly his new TaylorMade Qi10 Tour three wood found its way into his bag. The Qi10 Tour fairway wood has the most compact head and is the most playable of the three Qi10 fairway models. Suited to higher speed players, the Qi10 Tour features a titanium face and body, and a 50g sole weight that can be adjusted to dial in launch conditions. Abe’s TaylorMade Qi10 Tour three wood is installed with an LA Golf Series A shaft. He is known to also rotate a TaylorMade SIM 2 Max three wood through his bag.

Ancer’s five wood appears to be an unlabelled Callaway Rogue ST LS prototype. The Rogue ST LS features a 28g tungsten speed cartridge in conjunction with a forward weight screw, which minimises spin off the face. Abe’s Callaway prototype five wood features an LA Golf prototype shaft.

ABRAHAM ANCER HYBRID

TAYLORMADE STEALTH 2 PLUS RESCUE (22°)

Abraham’s Stealth 2 Plus rescue features a compact shape and profile, which are handy attributes for the best players in the game. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus rescue Abe is gaming has 22° of loft and its V-Steel sole and forged Twist Face gives him the capacity to play a variety of shots with the club. The rescue is fitted with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX shaft.

ABRAHAM ANCER IRONS

MIURA TC-201 IRONS (7 - PW) - SRIXON ZX7 MKII IRONS (5, 6)

A search to find the best forged irons in the game led Abraham to try Miura irons a few years ago and he’s been bitten by the Miura bug ever since. He currently plays Miura TC-201 irons, which are cavity-back irons that possess the inimitable soft Miura feel and sport a thin top line and no offset. Mass is shifted out towards the heel and toe in TC-201 irons, increasing stability and forgiveness, but they retain a high level of workability. The irons are also suited to players with a steep angle of attack, with a small amount of relief under the leading edge preventing the clubs from digging into the ground behind the ball.

Meanwhile Abraham’s five and six irons are Srixon ZX7 MKII irons. Like his Miuras they are forged tour irons that feature a thin topline and narrow sole. But Srixon’s perimeter weighting system increases stability, forgiveness and speed, which probably explains why Abe has selected them for his long irons. Abe’s irons are all fitted with Mitsubishi MMT 105 TX graphite shafts

ABRAHAM ANCER WEDGES

MIURA HB-10 WEDGES (52°) - ARTISAN PROTOTYPE (56°) - TITLEIST VOKEY PROTOTYPE SM9 (60°)

Abraham’s 52° Miura HB-10 is a versatile forged wedge made for tour conditions. It performs brilliantly out of tight lies and its wide, cambered sole and heel and toe relief make it easy to play open or closed face shots. Abe’s handcrafted 56° Artisan Prototype and Vokey SM9 60° wedge both feature customised sole grinds to suit his greenside game and sand play.

ABRAHAM ANCER PUTTER

ODYSSEY WHITE HOT NO.5 PUTTER

Abraham Ancer holed his winning putt at the WGC St Jude Invitational with his Odyssey White Hot No.5 putter and it has stuck around for his Saudi International and LIV Hong Kong wins also. The Odyssey White Hot putter range employs the original Odyssey White Hot urethane insert, which is famous for its feel, sound and performance. Abe’s White Hot No.5 is a classic D-shaped blade putter fitted with a multi-material Stroke Lab shaft, which enhances stroke tempo and feel.

ABRAHAM ANCER GOLF BALL

TITLEIST PRO V1X

Abraham Ancer’s 2025 Titleist Pro V1x is a four layer ball that spins more and launches higher than its three-layer ProV1 companion. The Pro V1x is a higher compression ball, providing a firmer feel than the ProV1, but offers low-spin distance off the tee and extra spin around the greens.
