Xander Schauffele What's in the Bag? (2025)
Posted by GolfBox on 4th Mar 2025
Xander Schauffele’s breakthrough run of major success in 2024 seems a fitting reward for one of the most likeable and consistent golfers in the world. Having amassed eleven top 10 finishes at majors in his career, the 30-year-old American finally removed the considerable monkey off his back when winning the US PGA Championship at Valhalla (May 16-19).
But it was his brilliant final round at the 2024 Open Championship (Jul 18-21) that will go down as one of the greatest. Schauffele came home in just 31 shots at a windswept Royal Troon on Sunday to win his second major in emphatic fashion.
Since joining the PGA Tour in 2017 Schauffele has won eight regular tournaments, including the co-sanctioned 2022 Scottish Open on the DP World Tour. He is also an Olympic gold medallist after claiming top spot on the dais in Tokyo and in 2025 will play on the PGA Tour full time.
What clubs does Xander Schauffele use?
Let's take a look what's inside Xander Schauffele's bag:
WITB UPDATE: 14/02/2025: Xander plays the new Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver, Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond HL fairway wood and a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Ti 340 Mini driver.
WITB UPDATE 22/07/2024: Plays Callaway Apex TCB ‘24 irons and Callaway Opus wedge at Open Championship (July 18-21)
XANDER SCHAUFFELE DRIVER
WITB UPDATE: 14/02/2025: CALLAWAY ELYTE TRIPLE DIAMOND DRIVER (10.5°)
Xander put a Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver in his bag at the beginning of 2025 and it’s a driver that should be an excellent match for his high swing speed.
It’s Callaway’s tour-spec driver and its slightly more compact 450cc head promotes workability. And with the head’s centre of gravity pushed more towards the face, it also lays claim to having the lowest-spinning and lowest-launching performance profile in the Elyte driver family.
Xander’s Elyte Triple Diamond driver is powered by Callaway’s new Elyte face, the latest handiwork of Callaway’s A.I. design process. Callaway used more player data this time round and the result is more individual “sweet spot” zones across the width of the Elyte face. It means the Elyte Triple Diamond is the most forgiving TD driver Callaway have ever created; wherever Xander hits it on the face, he can expect faster, straighter and longer drives.
Xander has a Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana PD 70 TX shaft installed on his Elyte Triple Diamond driver.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE FAIRWAY WOODS
WITB UPDATE: 14/02/2025: CALLAWAY ELYTE TRIPLE DIAMOND (3W: 16.5°), CALLAWAY PARADYM Ai SMOKE Ti 340 MINI DRIVER (13.5°)
After previously playing a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond three wood, Xander switched to Callaway’s new Elyte Triple Diamond three wood in early 2025.
Xander plays the HL (high launch) model, which features 16.5° of loft. It helps him hit the ball with a higher trajectory from the fairway or tee box and complements the Elyte Triple Diamond’s low spin properties. The Triple Diamond also features a compact head shape that enhances workability, giving Xander the ability to shape the ball as he desires.
Meanwhile, Xander’s Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Ti 340 Mini driver also makes an appearance in Xander’s bag. The Mini driver is essentially a strong lofted three wood, slotting into the gap between his Elyte driver and his Elyte Triple Diamond HL three wood.
The Ti 340 Mini driver features a 340cc titanium head and Xander usually hits it off the tee when a full driver isn’t the play.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE HYBRID
CALLAWAY APEX UW HYBRID (21°)
Xander’s Apex UW is the perfect in-between club to bridge the gap between his three wood and four iron. A cross between a five wood and a hybrid, Xander’s UW (utility wood) launches high and descends at a sharp angle, which is perfect for those soft-landing second shots required for the tour’s longest par fives.
Xander’s Callaway Apex UW is obviously a reliable partner on the course; it was released in 2021 and has since been replaced by Callaway’s latest 2024 Apex UW.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE IRONS
CALLAWAY APEX TCB 24 IRONS (4-10) - MIZUNO MP-20 HMB IRONS (3)
Featuring a classic head shape and offering flawless feel, Xander’s Callaway Apex TCB ’24 irons are designed for the best ball-strikers in the game.
Apex TCB irons (TCB stands for Tour Cavity Back) are renowned for their minimal offset, and while the cavity back construction offers a little forgiveness, they are made for flushers such as Xander who find the centre of the face more often than not. The compact head shape of Apex TCB irons allows Xander to shape and work the ball with confidence. True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts feature on Xander’s Apex TCB irons. Xander’s Callaway Apex TCB ’24 irons sit between the CB (cavity back) and MB (muscleback blade) irons in the Callaway Apex iron line-up.
Meanwhile, the Mizuno three iron that Xander employs on occasion is an outlier in a bag crammed full with Callaway equipment.
The Mizuno MP-20 HMB looks like a blade iron but features a hollow body and tungsten weighting in the toe and heel, which provides an ideal blend of forgiveness and speed. Xander regularly uses his Mizuno MP-20 HMB three iron as a driving iron.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE WEDGES
CALLAWAY OPUS (52°) - TITLEIST VOKEY SM10 (56°) - VOKEY WEDGEWORKS (60°)
Xander’s three wedges give him the ability to play just about every shot imaginable. His new 52° Callaway OPUS wedge is his main attacking weapon from outside 100 yards, where he can control spin and trajectory with ease. Callaway’s OPUS wedges offer a lower-launching, higher-spinning ball flight via a new Spin Gen Face. It features extra grooves on the face and tighter spacing while the grooves-between-the-grooves have also been upgraded to channel moisture off the face for greater spin consistency when it’s wet. And a quartz face blast has been applied to the Spin Gen face to generate additional friction at impact.
Xander’s other two wedges are Vokeys: a 56° SM10 and a custom made 60° Wedgeworks prototype. His SM10 is deployed closer to the green, where he can chip and pitch it on a dime, while his Wedgeworks prototype is often the club he goes with when splashing out of greenside bunkers. Xander’s brilliant wedge game makes difficult shots look easy but all three of his wedges have been carefully selected to allow his exquisite touch to flourish.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE PUTTER
ODYSSEY TOULON DESIGN LAS VEGAS PROTOTYPE PUTTER
While he’s a noted tinkerer with the flat stick, Xander has stuck with his latest putter for some time now. Finished in an eye-catching red, his current Odyssey Toulon Designs Las Vegas prototype is a fanged mallet built for stability. It features a plumber’s neck hosel, which produces a level of toe hang to match Xander’s putting stroke, and the putter’s fangs are designed to boost MOI and forgiveness when strikes are out of the toe or heel. Xander has a SuperStroke Zenergy Tour 2.0 grip fitted to his putter.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE GOLF BALL
Xander Schauffele plays the new 2024 Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball. The four-piece ball has a lower compression (90) compared to the firmer Chrome Tour X (98) and also spins more, providing Xander with more stopping power on the greens and extra control over his spin rate and trajectory.
