Honma T//World GS Range of Golf Clubs
Posted by GolfBox on 1st Dec 2020
You’ve got to love Honma’s approach to naming their new T//World GS series of clubs, and not just for the bold use of the twin forward slash syntax in the title.
The low-key GS suffix is a quite simply an abbreviation for ‘Gain Speed’; no buzzwords or catchy slogans at Honma, just a perfect summation of what the GS range is all about.
It's a minimalist approach that goes hand-in-hand with Honma’s clubmaking but the ‘Gain Speed’ principles at work in the T//World GS line-up are anything but restrained.
The Japanese manufacturer has thrown everything on the table to make EXTRA SPEED a reality for players with mid-range swing velocities (around 80-95mph).
Materials, design, manufacturing and development procedures have all been revised for the GS driver, hybrid, utility and irons, with resulting improvements in speed, launch and spin that are best described as fairly awesome.
Honma’s famous forging process, refined over decades at its facility in Sakata, is legendary for creating authentically pure golf clubs and the new T//World GS line-up is the latest to join the fold. The T//World GS also features a full range of Ladies driver, fairway woods, utility irons, and regular irons.
Tuned for speed through a custom-made shaft, the GS driver offers complete performance.
High launching yet penetrating ball flights from the most versatile clubs in the bag.
Speed and forgiveness harmonise with distance control and correction for off-centre strikes.
HONMA T//WORLD GS DRIVER
Mention the word speed to a golfer and you can almost guarantee they’ll subconsciously equate it to ‘driver distance’.
It’s only natural given the driver is where players really see speed translate into distance. For example, that old driver reached the bunker but the new one will now carry it comfortably.
In the case of the new Honma T//World GS driver, the need for speed has translated into overwhelming success.
Designed for players with mid-range swing speeds, Honma’s in-house testing suggests bunkers will indeed be flown but not at the expense of all-round performance.
Crank Slot
The regular sole slot, which sits just behind the leading edge, has been transformed into one that resembles a ‘crank’ shape. It increases ball speeds out of the sweet spot for more distance but comes to the rescue when strikes are out of the toe by minimising ball speed loss, which hurts distance off the tee.
Driver Keel
Honma have applied the same stability-enhancing principles of a yacht’s keel to the sole of the Honma GS driver. The GS driver’s keel structure, located on the rear edge of the sole, has an embedded 9g tungsten weight which makes the driver stable, forgiving and slightly draw biased, for a stronger ball flight.
Radial Face
Identifying the typical strike patterns of amateurs meant Honma could engineer the GS driver for maximum effectiveness. The result was a new radial face that was designed to negate the gear effect imparted from those common strike areas, leading to straighter and longer drives.
HONMA T//WORLD GS DRIVER
The overarching element of the GS driver is what Honma term the ‘speed loft’ design. Speed Loft sees stronger lofts paired with higher trajectories, all possible through a more efficient centre of gravity and a multi-thickness titanium crown, that cranks out distance like no other driver on the market for mid-range swing speeds.
And the Honma T//World GS driver oozes class, with a stylish form and fresh finish to make it a real head-turner on the first tee.
The GS driver is different, but it’s good different.

HONMA T//WORLD GS FAIRWAY & UTILITY
Every golfer has their favourite fairway wood or utility club that just seems to send the ball to where it needs to go every time.
It’s usually the perfect amalgamation of trajectory, spin rate and stability that makes for a trusty fairway-finding partner and Honma have attempted to bottle that sense of ‘perfect’ performance in their T//World GS fairway woods and utility clubs.
Crank Slot
The GS fairways and utility irons are fitted with a crank slot on the sole that boosts initial velocity out of the sweet spot. It also corrects the gear effect from off-centre mis-hits for extra forgiveness & straighter shots.
Draw Biased Design
Honma have delicately shifted weight internally, away from the heel side, to promote a draw bias flight shape for extra distance. It will fight a slice and make GS fairway and utility irons straighter, longer and easier to hit.
Custom Shaft
The Speedtuned shaft is matched to optimise fairway and utility spin rates. It complements the low and deep centre of gravity of the fairway and utility heads to create a high ball flight and penetrating distance.
HONMA T//WORLD GS FAIRWAY
Sharing many of the ‘gain speed’ aspects of the GS driver, such as a custom Speedtuned 48 shaft, Honma’s comparison testing saw the GS Fairway range outperform rivals in initial speed, distance and carry for mid-range swing speeds.
With a reputation as world-beaters, Honma GS fairway are odds-on to become your most trusted on-course companion.
HONMA T//WORLD GS UTILITY
Sharing many of the ‘gain speed’ aspects of the GS driver, such as a custom Speedtuned 48 shaft, Honma’s comparison testing saw the GS Utility range outperform rivals in initial speed, distance and carry for mid-range swing speeds.

HONMA T//WORLD GS IRONS
Applying the ‘gain speed’ philosophy to Honma’s T//World GS irons required some ‘outside the box’ inspiration.
Distance irons with strong lofts don’t typically shy away from their main calling, but Honma’s GS irons do it more efficiently for mid-range swing speeds than any other iron.
L-Cup Face
A new, wider L-cup face permits greater flex across the span of the face for faster ball speeds and vertical slots with uneven thickness improves spin control and mis-hit performance.
Tungsten Weight
A 6g portion of high-density tungsten is positioned inside the irons’ cavity, slightly towards the toe, producing high and long ball flights and improved MOI for added stability and forgiveness.
Flexible Sole
A thicker sole plate is fitted to the 8-11 GS irons, lowering the centre of gravity for high launching short irons. A rear cavity undercut allows the irons to flex and rebound efficiently for more speed.
HONMA T//WORLD GS IRONS
The T//World GS Irons will without doubt shorten any hole but it’s the forgiveness that truly sets them apart, with internal tungsten weighting an absolute godsend when finding the sweet spot becomes as elusive as an up-and-down from the short side of the green.
Honma T//World GS irons are the kind of clubs that’ll simplify the game for players who need to keep it simple.
