TaylorMade Spider Tour Black Series Putters
Posted by GolfBox on 12th Dec 2024
It seems as if TaylorMade’s Spider putters have never been hotter. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy were the chief wielders in 2024 and their habit of winning almost every tournament they entered seemed to get everybody else interested in the Spider Tour range.
The latest Spider putter release is called the Spider Tour Black Series. While no new concepts or new models drop in the new release, three of the most popular Spider Tour models of 2024 are ready for action sporting a brooding black PVD finish.
TAYLORMADE SPIDER TOUR BLACK MODELS
SPIDER TOUR BLACK
The Spider Tour Black putter is the original Spider shape. The putter’s legendary Jet Engine TSS weighting ports are replete with a copper highlight, which pops against the black PVD finish. The high MOI mallet comes in a slant neck configuration, offering 29° of toe hang, in 33", 34" and 35” shaft lengths. There Spider Tour Black is also available in a double bend hosel option for face balanced performance. Its 35” shaft is counterbalanced.
SPIDER TOUR X BLACK
The Spider Tour X Black offers impressive Spider stability in a smaller footprint. It’s the putter Rory and Scottie Scheffler use (albeit in prototype form) and you can get it in an L neck or slant hosel (21° and 31° of toe hang, respectively). The Spider Tour X features sole weights, instead of the traditional TSS weight ports, which furnishes the putter with more of a blade-like feel in a compact mallet package. The Spider Tour X Black is available in 34” and 35” lengths.
SPIDER TOUR S BLACK
As the most forgiving and stable Spider Black Series model, the Spider Tour S Black features the largest head. Sticking closely to the original Spider shape, the Spider Tour S Black putter is 3mm longer and 8mm wider, which elevates MOI significantly. TaylorMade offer the Spider Tour S Black putter in two face balanced options: a double bend shaft and a centre-shafted broomstick model. The double bend Spider Tour S Black putter is fitted with a counterbalanced 38” shaft; the centre shafted model features a 46” shaft, a 79° lie angle and 2.5° of loft (the standard is 3°).
SPIDER TOUR BLACK SERIES FEATURES
TaylorMade have equipped all three Spider Tour Black Series putters with a white True Path alignment system which provides a high contrast against the black PVD finish.
TaylorMade’s white TPU Pure Roll face insert is also standard. The surlyn/aluminium face insert features grooves set at a 45° angle to encourage a pure top-spinning roll off the face.
